History of the department

The Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy was founded on the base of the Department of Therapy-2 in 2000. From the time of its foundation until 2002 it was headed by professor V.V.Romanenko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, since 2002 – Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor A.V. Khapaliuk, since 2009 until the present time it has been headed by A.G.Zakharenka.

Academic activities of the department

Advanced training and retraining courses on clinical pharmacology are held at the department. Courses of advanced training are devoted to the actual issues of diagnostics and in therapy  and are focused on practical needs of public health services. In the course of teaching the basic attention is given to pharmacotherapy of diseases of the internal organs based on the principles of demonstrative medicine and results of multicentral international researches.  

Advanced training in clinical pharmacology is held for clinical pharmacologists, teachers of clinical disciplines of medical educational establishments,         Deputy Chief Doctors, physicians of therapy and surgery specializations, urologists, obstetricians-gynecologists, sport medicine doctors, clinical residents, pharmacists.

Doctors who have finished medical and pediatrics faculties of medical universities undergo retraining there.

Since 2009 there have been chargeable advanced training courses for pharmaceutists - «Clinical pharmacology in pharmaceutist’s practice». Since 2012 there have been chargeable courses for physicians of all specialties - «Rules for clinical trials of drugs (GCP) ».

Main forms of classes

Lectures, seminars, participation in scientific, clinical, hospital clinical and anatomy conferences. Practical classes are held with the demonstration of patients, clinical discussions are widely used. Listeners regularly participate in hospital rounds, train to evaluate results of modern laboratory and instrumental examinations, constantly master their practical skills.

Scientific topics of the department

Priority fields of scientific work are the following ones: development of new areas in diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular and respiratory system diseases: cardiac failures, metabolic syndrome, chronic obstructive lung disease, pneumonia.

Scientific research «To develop and implement pharmacoeconomically-proved   recommendations in the selection of rational empiric antibacterial therapy of patients with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia », advisor – Associate Professor A.G.Zakharenko

Reproductive security of antibacterial drugs.

To develop drug for prevention and adjunct therapy of osteoporosis on the basis of composition of amino acids, calcium salts, cholecalciferol and to master its production at          Republican unitary enterprise « Belmedpreparaty», advisor - Associate Professor A.G. Zakharenko

State Scientific and Research Program «Creation of drug to treat metabolic osteopathies», advisor - professor A.I. Khomenko

The method of complex evaluation of cardiorespiratory system and disease prognosis with the application of 6-minute test, index of Borg and validated questionnaires have been implemented.

Method of endovascular ultrasound recanalization of chronic occlusions of lower limb magistral arteries has been implemented (Instruction for Use of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus has been approved).

Endovascular treatment methods with the application of stents with drug covering at CHD with diabetes have been implemented.

The department prepares highly qualified staff: two teachers have been working at Doctoral thesis, 5 PhD candidates are working at their Candidate’s theses. For the last 5 years 3 Candidate’s theses have been successfully protected.

  

 

 

 

 

Clinical work

The department renders consultative care to healthcare establishments of Minsk region. Professors and associate professors of the department consult patients at Professor’s Medical Advisory Center of BelMAPE. Teachers of the department carry out emergency consultations in the area of Republican air medical service.
