History of the department
In March, 2014 the Department of Hygiene and Medical Ecology had its 65th Anniversary. Postgraduate training of the specialists began in 1945 at different departments of Minsk State Medical University.
Since 1947 specialists of hygienic area had been trained at Belarusian Institute of Advanced Medical Training, firstly during the course, since 1949 they had been training at the Department of Hygiene.
Training at the department is carried out in the following fields: in the field of hygiene, sanitary and hygienic laboratory researches. Advanced training courses are undergone by hygienists of all fields, head doctors from hygienic and epidemiological centers, laboratory assistants from hygienic and epidemiological centers, valeology physicians. There are special advanced training courses for teachers working at departments of hygiene at higher medical educational establishments of Belarus.
Along with the main teaching staff of the department, other specialists participate in the training process: specialists from the Ministry of Health, Republican Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, Belarusian Center of Medical Technologies, Minsk Health Care Committee, Belarusian State Medical University, Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Hygiene.
Main directions of scientific work of the department
The department carries out scientific researches which touch upon the issues hygienic aspects of children’s and teenagers’ health, mental hygiene. Scientific researchers are carried out together with Scientific and Practical Center of Hygiene.
For the period from 1981 to 2016 the department completed more than 35 research projects. Main fields of researchers: field of radiation hygiene, food hygiene, hygiene of children and teenagers, communal hygiene, work hygiene and preventive medicine.
Results of scientific researchers made by specialists of the department within the period from 1981 to 2016 were published in more than 300 articles and theses, were written about in more than 200 forums, including international ones.
The department holds advanced training courses on the usage of analysis methodology and risk evaluation in the practice of state control, on organization of primary prevention of diseases at children’s communities for pediatricians.
